Georgia Tech Vs. Western Carolina Final Score: Tevin Washington Leads Tech To 63-21 Victory Over The Catamounts

Georgia Tech's 63-21 season opening victory over Western Carolina may not be all that exciting until you look deeper into the numbers. Consider that the Yellow Jackets rolled up 662 yards of offense but 365 of those coming via the forward pass.

Tevin Washington finished the night completing 8 of 13 attempts for 271 yards and three touchdowns. Wideout Stephen Hill did most of the damage hauling in four passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Hill had scoring plays of 82 and 77 yards.

Despite their passing efforts, the Yellow Jackets still steamrolled their way to 297 yards rushing on the night while averaging over six yards per carry. Orwin Smith racked up 84 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries. Synjyn Days and David Sims each had rushing scores.

The Yellow Jackets dominated early scoring 28 unanswered points in the first quarter. Western Carolina scored all 21 of their points in the second including a blocked punt return for a touchdown just before halftime. Brandon Pechloff completed 20 of 33 passes for 180 yards. Shaun Warren led the Catamounts in rushing with 43 yards on 13 carries. Michael Vaughn and Brandon Pechloff accounted for Western Carolina's two touchdowns on the ground.
