Stephen Hill is leaving Georgia Tech and entering the 2012 NFL Draft.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets junior wide receiver Stephen Hill is leaving school early and declaring for the 2012 NFL Draft, the program announced Thursday. It's a highly unexpected decision, even though Hill had requested an evaluation from the NFL along with guard Omoregie Uzzi. He must have been told something he liked.

Dean Buchan@DeanBuchan #gatech Jr. WR Stephen Hill will enter the NFL draft. Press release coming soon.

Hill has the athleticism and size (six-foot-five, 200 pounds) to catch any general manager's eye, but one sticking point -- in addition to the CAN HE TURN CORNERS? question that plagued Demaryius Thomas -- is going to be his catching consistency. Though he was much better in 2011 (820 yards) than he was in 2010 (291 yards), he still left a number of big catches on the field. His blocking skills, however, could make up for some of that, as even the unheralded Kevin Cone has landed a roster spot out of Georgia Tech after being undrafted.
