The Boston College Eagles and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets enter Saturday's game facing similar circumstances, and both teams are desperate for a win.
The 2-4 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are in a similar situation to the 1-5 Boston College Eagles, points out Stan Awtrey at the Macon Telegraph. Both teams are on a losing streak, three for Georgia Tech and four for BC. And for both teams, the root of their troubles can be found on the defensive side of the ball.
The Yellow Jackets are giving up an average of 30.2 points per game, only slightly better than the Eagles' mark of 32.7. That's left both teams struggling to get wins despite strong offensive numbers. BC is 33rd in the FBS with 280.5 passing yards per game, and Georgia Tech is No. 3 in rush yards at 331 per game. BC is particularly soft against the run, yielding 249.33 yards per game, which may open up a window for Georgia Tech.
Kelly has pushed a simplified scheme that should help Tech cut down on mistakes. They'll have a strong test against BC. Chase Rettig is averaging nearly 275 yards per game, and junior running back Andre Williams has 295 rushing yards in his past two games.
