When it came down to crunch time, North Carolina's Kendall Marshall was the hero as his jumper from just outside the lane propelled UNC to a 69-67 victory over the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The shot came with roughly 12 seconds left in the game. A replay showed that there was some controversy over Marshall's offensive contact to create the space for the game winner.
North Carolina State was trying to defeat their in-state rivals for the first time in six years.
Harrison Barnes rebounded for the Tar Heels in the second half, finishing the game with 15 points, after having just three at the half. Tyler Zeller had 23 points and nine rebounds for North Carolina, while Marshall has 10 assists to go with 12 points.
The Wolfpack were lead by C.J. Leslie's 22 points in falling to 22-12. Their fate will be revealed tomorrow.
With the victory, North Carolina moves to 29-4 and will face the winner of the Duke versues Florida State game for the ACC Title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
