The third game of the 2012 ACC Tournament is a matchup of seventh seed Clemson against tenth seeded Virginia Tech. The Tigers finished 8-8 in conference play and 16-14 overall while Virginia Tech was 15-16 but just 4-12 in ACC play.
Clemson enters the tournament having won three of its last four games including a 58-56 win over the Hokies on March 1. The two teams split the season series with each team winning on its home floor. Virginia Tech won the first matchup 67-65 at the beginning of February.
Clemson is led by Andre Young's 13.3 points per game. Tanne Smith averages 11.1 points and a team high 4.1 assists per contest while Devin Booker adds some muscle inside averaging 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds.
Virginia Tech has lost four straight games entering the tournament including a lackluster 70-58 loss to N.C. State on senior day this past weekend. Erick Green leads the team with 15.3 average and Dorian Finney-Smith averages a team-high 6.8 rebounds.
