2013 Georgia Tech Recruiting: Yellow Jackets Land DB John Marvin

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets picked up another verbal commitment when they landed 6-foot-1,190-pound Fort Walton Beach, Fla., defensive back John Marvin. Marvin is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals and ESPN, while Scout has him as a two-star player.

Marvin attended a Georgia Tech camp a few weeks ago and was asked to play some cornerback instead of safety which he plays at high school. After the camp coaches came away impressed enough to offer him a scholarship.

Marvin decided to take Georgia Tech up on their offer and commit to the school over South Florida, Louisville, Central Florida, Maryland and Kentucky.

Once Marvin left the Georgia Tech camp he felt like the school was a good fit for what they offered overall:

"I just felt like the time was right," Marvin told the AJC. "I wanted to end everything [with recruiting]. I've been wanting to commit since I left camp. I fell in love with the place when I was there."

Why Tech? "I have a good relationship with the coaches, Atlanta is a good location, Georgia Tech has good academics ... plus they play in the ACC."

Here are highlights from Marvin's junior year:
