Miami Vs. Georgia Tech: Zach Laskey Showing He's Worth More Than Two Stars

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets wide receiver Zach Laskey was a player that wide receivers coach Buzz Preston was hoping would stay a secret while he was recruiting him. The Yellow Jackets signed him to a scholarship in December 2010.

Preston told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

That's what you're praying for. You're hoping that nobody gives him a little more love or offer that he might really want to jump at and cost you

In Saturday's win over the Virginia Cavaliers, Laskey scored on a 70-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage and added 43 rushing yards in the first half, as the Yellow Jackets rolled, 56-20.

Laskey was a two-star recruit coming out of high school according to Rivals recruiting service. The only other FBS teams that had given Laskey scholarship offers were the Navy Midshipmen and the Air Force Eagles.

I was a two star. I kind of felt that I was a little bit better than that. So I kind of play with a chip on my shoulder and kind of want to show everybody that I can play

After getting his opportunity thanks to injuries to David Sims and Charles Perkins in the preseason, Laskey has averaged 62.3 yards per game and 6.7 yards per touch.
