It was more than just an exhibition football game Saturday for Middle Tennessee State going against Georgia Tech, especially one MTSU cornerback Kenneth Gilstrap who believes he and some of his teammates may have been slighted by the Yellow Jackets.
The Blue Raiders have 36 players on their roster from Georgia, and with them being in the inferior Sun Belt conference, it's easy to see why they would feel slighted and play with a chip on their shoulder when facing Tech.
While Gilstrap's math is kinds of incorrect in this statement, you can sense the passion of where he's coming from with this line, courtesy of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
"Georgia Tech gave a slap in the face to all of us," he said, referring to his Georgian teammates. "We are all from Georgia. We've got more Georgia people on our team than they do. They tell us that we're not good enough to play in our own state, but we showed we were the better team in this game."
