The Atlanta Hawks have trimmed their training camp roster to 17 after waiving two on Thursday.

The Atlanta Hawks are one step closer to their final regular season roster after waiving Keith Benson and Isma'il Muhammad from their training camp roster on Thursday.

Both Benson and Muhammad played in the Hawks' 101-99 preseason loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday. Benson had 10 points and two rebounds on 5 of 8 shooting from the field in 10 minutes off the bench. Muhammad had one point and two assists in 12 minutes off the bench.

This is the second consecutive year that Benson has been waived by the Hawks in training camp. Last year, Benson briefly appeared in three regular season games for the Golden State Warriors.

Muhammad, a native of Atlanta, played at Georgia Tech from 2001 to '05 before playing professionally overseas in Iceland, France, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, New Zealand and Venezuela.

The Hawks training camp roster now sits at 17. Atlanta is 1-1 in the preseason with its next game coming against Memphis on Oct. 14.
