The Owls needed extra time to pick up their first win of the season.

Kennesaw State snapped a 20-game losing streak with an overtime victory over South Carolina State on Monday night. The Owls hung on for a 67-65 win.

Prior to Monday, Kennesaw State had not won a game in 2012. Its last victory was on Dec. 23, 2011, when it beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi. That win was one of three all of last season.

Markeith Cummings was the high-scorer for the Owls in the win, finishing with 18 points. Cummings had just six points in the first game of the season.

His teammate, Aaron Anderson, notched a double-double on Monday with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Things were already looking up for Kennesaw State before the win, as it lost to Tennessee in its season opener by just nine points.

The Owls will try to make it two in a row when they travel to Eastern Kentucky on Friday. A day later, they will play their home opener against Radford.
