Two minutes into the Thrashers' opener, Ondrej Pavelec crumpled to the ice. The puck was at the other end of the rink, and Pavalec had shown no signs of discomfort or struggle.
Teammates rushed to help, waving for staff assistance as a stunned Philips crowd looked on in silence.
Pavelec wasn't moving as medical crew worked for ten minutes, eventually lifting him onto a stretcher. He's still breathing, at least.
More to come.
Pavelec was eventually taken off on a stretcher and is presumably being taken to be checked out. Chris Mason takes over in goal.
