Would you tell these girls no?
The Mayor of Oklahoma City did. Yes. Seriously.
OKC Mayor Mick Cornett threw cold water all over the idea of having scantily clad women play tackle football in his thriving metropolis, nixing the idea of an expansion Lingere Football League team playing in the Ford Center or any other taxpayer-funded building within the city limits.
Which makes me think... What the heck is wrong with this guy?
Hmmmm. Let's see. Oklahoma City boasts of about 15 strip clubs and three Hooters restaurants, but the mayor has some sort of moral attack about hot women wearing halter tops and tight shorts running down a football field and making catches in a real tackle football game? Sounds like a good time to me.
The LFL, which bills itself as "true fantasy football," promised but never delivered on a franchise here last season. The 10-team league was supposed to start up with an ATL entry called the Atlanta Steam. They even went as far as holding tryouts here, but ultimately decided to start up elsewhere.
Perhaps it's time to rethink that.
If the mayor of OKC is doesn't want the girls to play in his town that boasts of four, three, two, one professional team, bring 'em here. After all, they don't call the "City that's too busy to hate" Hotlanta for nothing. We'll welcome the ladies with open arms.
