With the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia just two weeks away, the South Carolina Gamecocks enjoyed a competitive bye week. The Cocks bossed around the Troy Trojans, getting Stephen Garcia, Marcus Lattimore, and others out of the game early. The Auburn Tigers took the week off to catch up on Cam Newton blog posts.
Next week both teams face state rivals in hostile venues. South Carolina visits the Clemson Tigers, who became bowl eligible today against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Did you know Clemson has the nation’s ninth-best scoring defense? They’ve yet to lose by more than one score, and came a longsnapper’s error from taking Auburn to double overtime.
Auburn heads to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide enjoyed a restful week of their own — as restful as a week can be with Nick Saban around, at least. They sent several boosters and professors in to mop up the Georgia St. Panthers on Thursday night.
