Week 13 BCS rankings are out, and the Boise St. Broncos still haven't overtaken the TCU Horned Frogs in the No. 3 spot. They're getting closer, and a win in their game against the No. 19 Nevada Wolf Pack should be enough to move them up.
A fall by the Nebraska Cornhuskers freed up room for a herd of teams to queue up one space. The Michigan St. Spartans, who barely beat the Purdue Boilermakers, jumped the Alabama Crimson Tide. Serves the Tide right for picking on the Georgia St. Panthers, huh?
Elsewhere around the SEC and ACC, the LSU Tigers are still in consideration for the Sugar Bowl if the Auburn Tigers win, but have an outside shot at cleaning up if Auburn slips. Say LSU wins and Auburn loses next week -- wouldn't at least a few voters move LSU ahead of TCU and/or Boise? No telling what the computers would think, though.
The Arkansas Razorbacks and Virginia Tech Hokies are also angling to get into BCS games, with the Hokies having the clearest path: beat the Florida St. Seminoles or N.C. State Wolfpack in the ACC Championship Game and get an Orange Bowl invite. The South Carolina Gamecocks, FSU, N.C. State, and the Mississippi St. Bulldogs also make late appearances.
