College Football Rankings, Week 13 Preview: Boise State To No. 3, LSU Or Wisconsin Close In On TCU

Week 13 college football polls will come out today, including the AP, USA Today Coaches', and BCS, so here's an early preview of what we might be looking at. Last week Boise St. hurdled TCU in the human polls, but not the BCS. This week the Broncos' 51-0 hammering of the Fresno St. Bulldogs, a team with a winning record at least, combined with TCU's poorly scheduled bye week (plus the Virginia Tech Hokies undefeated ACC run) will be too much for the computers to resist. If Oregon or Auburn slip on Friday night against ranked conference rivals, Boise will be in very, very good shape.

LSU isn't likely to jump TCU this week after being taken to the buzzer by the otherwise horrible Mississippi Rebels, but at least one of the three one-loss teams in the middle is going to roll up on the Horned Frogs by the time next week's polls come out. Lesson learned for TCU for next year -- take time off early in the season, while the polls are going haywire every week, and not late. Not saying it's right, but it's how the crooked game works.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers lost a very un-Big 12 9-6 boot party to the Texas A&M Aggies, so we'll need a team to fill the void in the top ten. In the BCS, Oklahoma St. is already there, and Alabama would likely take tenth. Humans are going to be more impressed by Michigan St.'s win over Wisconsin a few weeks ago, which has now become the nation's second-best win, while Okie State's defining win came over ... A&M?

It's not how I'd rack 'em up, but here's a top ten preview:

  1. Oregon Ducks
  2. Auburn Tigers
  3. Boise St. Broncos
  4. TCU Horned Frogs
  5. LSU Tigers
  6. Wisconsin Badgers
  7. Stanford Cardinal
  8. Ohio St. Buckeyes
  9. Alabama Crimson Tide
  10. Michigan St. Spartans
