Your week 11 ACC college football schedule. All times EST.
Miami Hurricanes at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, noon, ESPN3 and ACC Network: Both teams are virtually out of the ACC Coastal Division race, which is not a race so much as a reenactment of a really long Tom & Jerry episode with four Toms and no Jerrys, but there's at least a little bit of brand-new-rivalry pride at stake. Plus the Jackets can become bowl eligible with a win and will certainly be in win-one-for-Joshua-Nesbitt mode.
Boston College Eagles at Duke Blue Devils, noon, ESPN3: The four-way brawl for the bottom of the ACC got a whole lot more interesting over the past two weeks. Duke mysteriously produced 89 points in two games via the steady cannon of QB Sean Renfree. Plus they beat a Navy Midshipmen team that harpooned the East Carolina Pirates, so keep your eyes p...
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at N.C. State Wolfpack, 2, ESPN3: Russell Wilson's wolfpack (lower case) still has a chance at reaching the ACC Championship Game, which would be really great because they're the only team in this whole conference that's really fun to watch every week on offense and defense. If only there were some way ... Hey, great! Wake Forest!
Maryland Terrapins at Virginia Cavaliers, 3:30, ESPN3: Maryland is also alive in the ACC Atlantic, as are the Baltimore Orioles, Cherokee High School Warriors, Aberdeen F.C., the 2009 Maryland Terrapins, Thom Brennaman's accent, this bag of Snyder's pretzels, and my daughter's Beauty and the Beast cup that has a straw coming out of Princess Belle's spine (got pics!).
No. 20 Virginia Tech Hokies at North Carolina Tar Heels, 3:30, ABC and ESPN3: The Hokies are the conference's only ranked team, only shot at BCS respectability, and only clear division frontrunner. The Heels have patched together an acceptable season after losing half the NFL Draft's first round before the season began. Great sledgehammer of ACC chaos, you know where to strike this week.
Clemson Tigers at Florida State Seminoles, 8, ABC and ESPN3: Hey look, a game that really matters! Winner has inside track to Charlotte, which definitely sounds like a NASCAR thing.
