FCS Playoffs Scores: Georgia Southern Takes 20-3 Lead Over Wofford Into Half

Mistakes by the Wofford Terriers continue to make the Georgia Southern Eagles’ job easier than it should be. Wofford finally got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter, putting a field goal through but following it up with a kickoff out of bounds.

GSU took advantage of what’s become their standard good field position, with QB Jaybo Shaw completing a flurry of passes and running 21 yards on a third down draw to set up a half-ending field goal. If the Eagles could’ve saved two or three more seconds, they would’ve had a chance to take a shot at the end zone.

Wofford star RB Eric Breitenstein has 57 yards on ten carries, with GSU’s Robert Brown posting 40 on nine carries. Southern’s Brent Russell has been everywhere, forcing one fumble and recovering another.

On the other side of the bracket, Villanova blew out Appalachian State 42-24. The Wildcats will face the winner of the North Dakota State-Eastern Washington matchup, which starts at 3:30 ET today.
