A 37-yard touchdown lob from QB Mitch Allen to a wide-open WR Brenton Bersin pulled the Wofford Terriers within two scores of the Georgia Southern Eagles about halfway through the third quarter. Wofford’s D has arrived as well, forcing two punts after stuffing nary a first half drive. Their second of the quarter came after yet another piece of great GSU field position, with QB Jaybo Shaw getting dropped to complete a three-and-out.
The Terriers are driving again, with the ball in Eagles territory as the fourth quarter begins. Wofford coach Mike Ayers continues to make former GSU coach Paul Johnson look like Jeff Fisher, going for two fourth-down conversions in his own territory on this drive — one of them from his own 29.
Wofford QB Mitch Allen fumbles a lot. Wish I had some sort of chart on this, as live box scores don’t appear to be available anywhere, but Allen has to have fumbled on just about every drive so far.
The Spartanburg crowd, silent for most of the first half after two early Terriers turnovers, has gotten involved.
Eastern Washington is up 14-0 on North Dakota State in the first quarter. The winner of that game will get Villanova next weekend.
