The 2010 SEC Championship Game kicks off at the Georgia Dome in a little over 48 hours, and the media’s lining up in favor of the Auburn Tigers’ chances over the South Carolina Gamecocks’. ESPN’s Chris Low likes Auburn to win by ten, foreseeing the Cocks forcing Cam Newton to win the game with his arm.
Scout.com’s SEC roundtable takes Auburn across the board, while What If Sports has the Tigers winning 58.4 percent of the time. That’s the same level of confidence WIS has in the USC Trojans beating the UCLA Bruins, if that tells you anything.
Will no one stand for Carolina? NBC Sports John Tamanaha will. He takes the Gamecocks by three, acknowledging OBC’s mastery of the Alshon Jeffery-and-Marcus Lattimore attack. With the line where it is, betting on Carolina plus the points isn’t a bad play, and I don’t think an outright upset is as unlikely as many of the experts seem to think it is.
