The 8-2 Georgia Bulldogs will wrap up a three game in five day stretch today with a trip to Macon where they will take on the 3-7 Mercer Bears. Other than the annual match-up with Georgia Tech it is not often that Georgia travels to take on another instate school. This will be the Bulldogs first trip to Mercer since Dec 3rd 1994 which was the last season with Hugh Durham on the bench.
The Bulldogs are fresh off of a 85-38 blowout victory over the High Point Panthers on Tuesday night at Stegeman. Georgia is currently riding a five game winning streak and is off to its best start since the 2007-08 season in which they finished 17-11. This will be the 75th meeting between Georgia and Mercer but the first since 1999. The Bulldogs lead the all time series with a 51-23 record and have won the last 14 contests.
Georgia will have a pretty big size advantage over the Bears with Mercer expected to start no one taller than 6'7" forward Brian Mills. They will have a hard time matching up with the likes of Georgia's 6'10" forward Trey Thompkins who recently amassed 1000 career points in just his third season at Georgia
Tip off is slated for 7:00pm and the game can be watched online at ESPN3.com.
