SEC Championship Game Score: Auburn And South Carolina Start Fast, Game Tied 7-7

Auburn Tigers head coach Gene Chizik said he wanted his team to get off to fast start in the SEC Championship game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. They did just that as Auburn produced a four-play 77-yard drive which ended with a Cam Newton 12-yard touchdown pass to Onterio McCalebb to give the Tigers the 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.

The play of the drive had to be when Auburn had a play where they ran two fake reverses and that led Newton to throw a 61-yard bomb to Darwin Adams. It's clear Newton has improved as a passer and he is going to have the South Carolina defense on tilt all game long.

But South Carolina was able to respond as Stephen Garcia threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Patrick DiMarco to tie the game at seven. Garcia was perfect on the opening drive for the Gamecocks, completing all four if his attempts with 67 yards. This looks like this will be a shootout because both defenses will have a tough time stopping the opposing teams offense.
