The Braves’ manager had some choice words for Florida Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria when asked about the Marlins’ firing of Cox protege Fredi Gonzalez. David O’Brien of the AJC relays the following:
“They’ve gone down to the end [competing for a playoff spot] every year, playing their asses off,” Cox said. “That guy [Loria] doesn’t appreciate anything. He’s one of those guys that thinks you change [just for the sake of change]. He’s always wanting to fire the coaches. Always. That’s his history. He lost a good one there.”
I guess Bobby Cox won’t be sending Loria a Christmas card this year. Kind of makes you glad that the Braves are owned by a faceless corporation, doesn’t it?
