According to the Danville Register, the Braves have signed third round pick Joe Leonard. He was the the last top holdout (if you can call holding out a couple of weeks a holdout). The Braves have now signed their top 17 picks in the 2010 MLB Draft. It certainly looks like their strategy of drafting signable players has paid off. Now let’s see how these guys produce.
↵Leonard is an exciting pick because some scouts consider him the position player taken in the draft by the Braves who is the closest to the Majors. They’re starting him out at their advanced rookie ball, and while there are a few players from this draft currently ahead of him, there’s probably just no room for him at the other levels of the system.
