The Curacao Kid Returns To The Mound Tonight For The Braves

Braves starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens returns to the mound at Turner Field tonight after two months on the disabled list nursing a hamstring injury. The Braves were buoyed in the rotation by Kris Medlen, but with the return of Jurrjens the Braves are able to move weak link Kenshin Kawakami to the bullpen.

Jurrjens was the Braves second-best starter last season, but he has been slowed by nagging injuries since the beginning of spring training. If Jurrjens can come back and return to his 2009 form, then it will be like the Braves just pulled off a trade for a top starting pitcher. A healthy Jurrjens can certainly have an impact on the NL East race.
