There have been some furious rumors in recent days about possible trade targets for the Braves, but Braves.com beat writer Mark Bowman says that there's really not much to any of those rumors after all, even though he stoked the fires of these rumors just 10 days ago.
The Braves front office will have to be blown away by an offer in the next few weeks, and will take that time to see how Matt Diaz, Jason Heyward, and Nate McLouth (virtually their entire starting outfield) return from injury. If those guys can pick up some of the offensive slack, then the Braves may simply seek to add a minor bench bat or another complementary piece, but they won't give up their top prospects to do so.
It's good to see that the Braves aren't going to overpay for a player. They'll have to get a good offer where they get the better end of a trade. Still, depending on how some of these guys come back form injury, the Braves trade needs could change drastically in the next couple of weeks.
