Nine Chipper Joneses Would Beat Nine Alex Rodriguezes, Plus Other Observations

ESPN's Stats & Info blog presents some pretty impressive Chipper Jones facts:

You may be aware Chipper "ranks 9th in hits (2,490), 7th in runs (1,505), 6th in home runs (436), 6th in extra-base hits (966) and 7th in OBP (.405, minimum 3,000 plate appearances)" among active players, but did you know the Bobby Cox/Chipper Jones duo "has logged 2,261 games together, the second-most of any such tandem in MLB history"?

Our favorite part, of course:

A team of nine players with career numbers of Chipper Jones would win nearly 72 percent of the time, by way of Bill James Offensive Winning Percentage metric. By comparison, a team comprised of nine Alex Rodriguez's would win 70 percent of the time.

According to baseball-reference.com, A-Rod has made almost twice as much money over the course of his career as Chipper has. (If we're counting endorsements, it's likely more than half.)
