Dodgers Top Braves, Even Series At One Game Apiece

The Dodgers beat the Braves 2-1 in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday night, evening the series at one game apiece. Derek Lowe worked six innings against his previous employer, while giving up one earned run on ten hits. Even though Lowe successfully worked out of jam after jam, the Braves’ offense did not return the favor and as a result, Lowe picked up his tenth loss of the season. The Braves’ offense, which has a tendency to provide Lowe with solid run support, was only able to put up one run, coming off a David Ross sacrifice in the seventh inning. This loss, in combination with the Phillies win over the Mets, brings the Braves division lead down to two games.

Althought it was sad to see the Braves lose on Moonpie Night, all is not bleak around the Ted. Martin Prado felt good taking batting practice before today’s game and Carroll Rogers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that he may be back in the line-up as early as Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Head on over to Talking Chop for a detailed breakdown of the game.
