Tech Gains Four-Star QB Vad Lee, Loses Freshman QB Jordan Luallen

North Carolina’s Vad Lee, a four-star quarterback and Top 150 prospect according to ESPNU, has chosen the Jackets over seemingly the entire Tobacco Road region. His other offers included five ACC or SEC schools in North or South Carolina plus East Carolina and South Florida, with Virginia and Virginia Tech also recruiting him.

Lee has been one of Tech’s primary targets for a while now. He’s excited about getting a chance to compete for Tech’s starting job next year, and he’ll have a better shot at it than anyone expected. Redshirt freshman Jordan Luallen, thought to be third on the depth chart, decided to leave the team, possibly for Cincinnati. Luallen was able to lead the team to the 2013 NCAA 11 BCS title game on Heisman difficulty just a few weeks ago, so this is pretty a significant blow.

Still, the Jackets have a trio of athletic young passers pitchers (Tevin Washington, David Sims, and Synjyn Days) backing up Joshua Nesbitt, and it won’t be long before Lee joins the unit.
