Braves Fall Again, 5-2

The Braves’ offense was stagnant Tuesday night as the scored only two runs against the Rockies in Coors Field. Derek Lowe posted a quality start, battling through 7 hits and two walks in his 6 innings but only allowing three earned runs. That would be enough against the Braves, as they hit into fourdouble plays, erasing almost every single baserunner they had on the evening. Derek Lowe also reached base twice, making him one of the stand-outs in the Braves’ line-up for the night. The Braves’ top 3 (Infante, Heyward, Prado) were a combined 1-12 while hitting into three double plays.

Alex Gonzalez provided the Braves’ only runs of the evening, hitting a solo home run in the second and driving in Matt Diaz with a single in the seventh inning. The Rockies would add some insurance in the 8th, scoring two runs after Clint Barmes struck out but reached on a passed with two outs. Neither run was earned.
