The Atlanta Dream stole game one, leading tonight’s matchup in Washington for all but one minute. Star forward Angel McCoughty was dominant, leading all scorers with 28 points while shooting 11-of-19 from the field, and guard Coco Miller pitched in 21 points of her own.
The Dream played fantastic defense throughout. Forward Erika DeSouza blocked five shots, with the rest of the team chipping in another five. The Mystics shot only 37.7 percent, well below their 45.1 percent standard. Mystics guard Lindsey Harding, a 44.5 percent shooter during the regular season, made only five of her 21 attempts.
Dream guard Armintie Price dished a game-high seven assists, and Mystics forward Crystal Langhorne scored 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds.
The teams reconvene in Atlanta on Friday night, giving the Dream a chance to take the best-of-three series at home.
