The Atlanta Dream have reached the WNBA Playoffs’ second round for their first time ever.
The Washington Mystics held a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter, and then things fell apart. Atlanta outscored Washington 33-7 in the second and never looked back.
Angel McCoughty stole the show despite playing only 21 minutes. She tied with Dreammate Iziane Castro Marquez for the game high in scoring, with 21 points, led all in steals (4), and finished second behind Atlanta center Sancho Lyttle in rebounds.
The Dream defense was even stricter than Wednesday night’s, limiting Washington to 26.8 percent shooting.
With an extra couple days of rest, the Dream will wait to play the winner of New York-Indiana.
