Georgia Tech-South Carolina State: Tech's First-Ever Game Against A HBCU

Georgia Tech's opening day opponent, back-to-back defending MEAC champion South Carolina State, will be the first historically black college football team to ever play the Yellow Jackets.

The Bulldogs' only losses last year were a road game at South Carolina (in which they trailed by only three at halftime) and a road playoff game at rowdy Appalachian State, whom you may remember from such films as The Lloyd Carr Retirement Tour.

Six-foot-one, 260-pound Malcom Long, SC State's gigantic quarterback, expects a strong road following, as "a whole lot of our fans were going to be in Atlanta anyway for Labor Day weekend."
