Freddie Freeman Debuts Tonight Against Mets

New, 1 comment

The Braves top prospect, Freddie Freeman, will make his Major League debut tonight against the Mets. Freeman is in the lineup starting at first base and batting sixth against pitcher Mike Pelfrey.

Braves Lineup:

1. Omar Infante, SS
2. Jason Heyward, RF
3. Martin Prado, 3B
4. Brian McCann, C
5. Eric Hinske, LF
6. Freddie Freeman, 1B
7. Brooks Conrad, 2B
8. Rick Ankiel, CF
9. Tommy Hanson, P

Freeman recently won the International League’s Rookie of the Year award and is one of the finalists for Minor League Player of the Year. Derrek Lee will still serve as the primary first basemen and went 3-3 yesterday, but with his lingering back issues Freeman provides some insurance.

It is expected that Freeman starts at first for the big club next season, which may mean the revolving door at the position since Fredd McGriff will soon be stopped.
