The Falcons managed just 16 total yards in their first quarter of real football and allowed the Steelers to take their opening drive for a 52-yard field goal.
Tony Gonzalez was targeted twice in his quest to surpass 1,000 catches but he enters the second quarter still stuck at 999. It’s worth noting the Falcons tried to get Gonzalez the ball on the first play but Steelers’ linebacker Lamarr Woodley cheated (aka committed pass inteference).
We’ll chalk this up to early season rust and expect a better effort in the second quarter.
