Led by a terrific defensive performance, the Falcons are tied with the Steelers, 3-3. Matt Bryant connected on a 49-yard field goal to tie the game with no time remaining in the second quarter. This coming after he missed a 46-yarder earlier in the quarter.
Tony Gonzalez continues to wait for his 1,000 catch. He’s been targeted four times by my unofficial count but will have to wait until the third quarter to become the seventh player in NFL history to reach that milestone.
Dunta Robinson has not had an impressive first half. He’s given up a couple of big plays plus a bizarre sequence where he turned to complain to the refs after giving up a catch to Hines Ward. The problem? Ward was not ruled down and was able to get up and pick up even more yards.
Mike Peterson showed us why he, and not Stephen Nicholas, is in the starting lineup with a momentum-killing interception of Dennis Dixon. John Abraham had a chance to make it two interceptions but was unable to hold on.
Michael Turner has only 19 yards on nine carries. That number will need to increase if the Falcons are able to put this one away.
