Hines Ward Finally Gets Win Over Hometown Team

Hines Ward has a sufficiently impressive resume in the National Football League – two Super Bowl tings, a Super Bowl MVP, multiple Pro Bowls, and just about every significant record for a receiver in Steelers franchise history. One feather missing from his cap, until yesterday at least, was beating his hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons.

The Georgia native and UGA graduate sounded pleased the Steelers finally took down the Falcons:

"This was an amazing victory," Ward said. "It was the first time I beat Atlanta.

"Being from there, I wanted it really bad."

That’s not all Ward accomplished on Sunday. He also became just the 24th player in NFL history to surpass 11,000 career reeciving yards, and his six receptions increased his total to 901, the ninth most ever.

Too bad his monumental day came at the expense of the Falcons, but congratulations to the former Georgia Bulldog on the impressive milestones.
