The 1-1 Eagles, fresh off an impressive six-point road loss to fellow flexbone option practitioners Navy in a game that must have taken about 59 minutes of real time, travel to pretty-much-Myrtle Beach to take on the 0-2 Chanticleers.
If Georgia Southern’s last game was especially brief, Coastal Carolina’s made up for it. The Chanticleers took five overtime periods to put away Towson.
GSU 1.0’s defense has only allowed ten points in two games, including last week’s against Heisman longshot Ricky Dobbs. CCU has given up 76 in the same span. The Chanticleers (say it as often as possible) did face explosive West Virginia, but Navy actually outscored West Virginia last year by 1.2 points per game.
The word chanticleer can mean many things, but you’d like to assume they’re named after “a character in the movie Rock-A-Doodle played by Glen Campbell.”
