Hudson has had a terrific season which has been highlighted by a dominant August. He made the All-Star team, which means his numbers before the break were exceptional as well.

Hudson's August numbers:

↵

42.0 IP, 1.71 ERA, 35 K, 9 BB, .220 BAA, 1.02 WHIP

↵

Those are phenomenal numbers which have come at a crucial time in the season. Hudson has moved himself into Cy Young candidacy with his amazing August and is being recognized for his success. Despite having poor peripheral statistics all season, Hudson has managed to constantly retire batters and keep the opponents run total down, mostly due to his incredible sinker.

Hudson will start tonight against Johan Santana and the Mets as they go for a four game sweep at home. Check out the Open Thread at Talking Chop, which should be up at around 6:30pm EST.
