A former undrafted free agent, Brandon Beachy, will start the series opener in one of the Braves biggest series of the past five seasons. Needless to say, this is not exactly the ideal situation to start your first Major League game.
Beachy was absolutely dominant in the minors this season, posting a 1.73 ERA, 148 strikeouts, and just 28 walks over 119.1 innings between double-A Mississippi and triple-A Gwinnett.
He has not started a game since September 3, but he has been throwing in the Braves’ practice facilities in case of an emergency like this. Personally, I feel he will throw better than Jair would have. Here’s to the start of the Brandon Beachy era!
