When The Pressure Is On, Matt Ryan Reigns

I wrote last week about how Matt Ryan's first 33 starts compared favorably with Drew Brees. I got some flack for the comparison but it turns out Ryan's nickname has been well-deserved.

Atlanta’s Matt Ryan is the best quarterback in the National Football League -- at least in two categories.

ESPN Stats & Information just shipped over a packet of stuff that has Ryan sitting pretty. He is leading the league in red-zone and goal-to-go passing.

In the red zone, Ryan has a 127.9 passer rating while completing 9 of 13 passes (69.2 percent) with four touchdowns and no interceptions. New Orleans’ Drew Brees ranks third in that category with a 121.2 passer rating.

Ryan and Brees also rank near the top in goal-to-go passing situations. Ryan leads the league with a 126.4 rating in those situations and Brees is third at 121.5.
