If Tech has a lot to work on after Saturday's 41-10 win over South Carolina State, Kansas might need to just start over. The Jayhawks put up the nation's most pathetic week one effort in its 6-3 home loss to North Dakota State -- hey, at least Ole Miss took its FCS opponent to double overtime.
The Jayhawks are breaking in a first-year starting quarterback saddled by the surname Pick and a first-year head coach, along with five players already done for the year due to injuries. Plus the fact that, you know, they're Kansas. On the bright side, they held ND State to 73 yards rushing.
Since 2007, Tech hasn't ventured any farther west than Starkville, Mississippi. The long road trip could give the Jackets some early hiccups, though Joshua Nesbitt has said this is the game he's looking forward to more than any other due to its novelty.
Kansas is on a two-game winning streak against ACC teams, having trounced Duke in 2008 and slipped past Virginia Tech in the 2007 Orange Bowl. Those were, of course, more indulgent years for Kansas football.
From The Rumble Seat should be back very soon to speculate and spreadsheet on the game. In the meantime, we'll be sure to update this stream with news and previews as the week progresses.
