USA Today has a great article on the Dream's surprise run from the worst record in WNBA history to a 1-0 lead in the WNBA Eastern Conference Finals.

A review of our pro teams' most recent title shots:

  • The Braves last reached the World Series in 1999.
  • The Falcons' only Super Bowl trip: 1998.
  • The Thrashers have never reached the Stanley Cup Finals.
  • The Hawks have never reached the NBA Finals.
  • Our major college teams have fared a bit better:

  • Neither Tech nor Georgia have been to a BCS Championship Game.
  • Tech men's hoops made the 2005 final, losing to UConn.
  • The Bulldogs finished second in the 2008 College World Series.
  • Georgia men's tennis won a national title in 2008, and its women's team won in 2002.
  • The Gym Dogs won their most recent national championship in 2009.
  • Georgia's men's swimming, golf, and equestrian teams and Georgia Tech women's tennis have all won titles in the past decade.
  • The Dream tip off tonight at 7:30 at Philips. The game will be on NBA TV.
