Braves Fall 11-4 In Series Opener

This was not the type of performance the Braves had hoped for with a chance to tie the Phillies for the division lead. Jair Jurrjens blew an early 3-0 lead and the offense shut down for seven innings.

Jair had a terrible day on the mound and will have to pitch much better down the stretch for the Braves to have a chance. The season is winding down and these types of performances after being given a lead are becoming unacceptable, in my opinion.

As mentioned, the Braves had a very productive first inning. Omar Infante singled and advanced to third on two throwing errors. Jason Heyward then singled and Derrek Lee hit a home run three batters later. After that, the offense shut down. Eric Hinske added an RBI single in the ninth.

Scott Proctor and Christian Martinez gave up three runs combined over 1.2 innings. Kyle Farnsworth and Craig Kimbrel pitched perfect innings, and thenKenshin Kawakami let up a home run to Colby Rasmus, his second of the game.
