Georgia High School Sports: All-Star Football Players Take Center Stage, Latest Basketball Rankings Are Out


Inclement weather is causing schools to cancel sporting events this week, but it did not effect the high school football action this past weekend, as the Georgia Junior Bowl took place at Hallford Stadium. Also, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl took place in San Antonio where some Georgia's elite took part in one of the most prestigous high school football All-American games.

The Junior Bowl was an inaugural game where some of the best rising senior football players in the state got together for a game so scouts could evaluate some more talented players from the state. Some of the players that stood out according to Proctor are Deion Bonner from Carver-Columbus and Scott Hosch from North Gwinnett.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl featured some of the best senior players in the country and one player from Georgia that stood out from Georgia is Valdosta WR  Malcolm Mitchell who had a long touchdown pass. You can find the video of the play as well has highlights from the game here.

The new high school basketball rankings are out and the only significant change is the Redan girls moving up to the No. 1 spot in Class AAAA after Madison County and Southwest DeKalb lost last week. Here's the list of the rankings of all five classes for the boy's and girls.
