Georgia Tech (9-8, 2-2) heads north to take on the Virginia Cavaliers (10-8, 1-3) early Saturday afternoon. The Jackets have won two straight games at home by a combined 55 points over Wake Forest and North Carolina in the past week.
Virginia opened their conference schedule at in-state rival Virginia Tech on December 5, winning 57-54. More recently, they have lost all three of their conference games in the new year, including falling at Boston College 70-67 on Wednesday.
Georgia Tech is coming off of their largest ACC win ever, beating Wake Forest 74-39 on Wednesday. The Jackets are led by Iman Shumpert and Glen Rice, Jr. who both have had breakout games in the past week. The two averaged just under 24 points a game individually against Wake and UNC.
In the only meeting between the two schools last year, Virginia won at home by a tally of 82-75. The Cavaliers were led by Sylven Landesberg who put up 22 points.
All time, Tech leads the series against Virginia 38-31, and has won 12 of the last 18 meetings.
Georgia Tech is 0-5 in true road games this year, and will be looking for their first road win since January 16th of last year.
The two schools face off again February 23rd when Virginia pays a return visit to Atlanta.
