Super Bowl XLV: Packers-Steelers Players From SEC Schools Include Hines Ward, Chad Clifton

The SEC is reasonably well-represented in this year’s Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, though nowhere near as well as it could’ve been with the SEChicago Bears in Dallas. There aren’t many household names from SEC schools in the game, but of course Steelers star Hines Ward, Packers Pro Bowler Chad Clifton, and a handful of starters will get their share of airtime.

LSU and Tennessee lead the way with four active-roster players each. There would’ve been more throughout the list, if I’d included injured reserve players — like Steelers LT Max Starks, from Florida — and players who’ve been inactive. These are all based off the rosters each team has provided on its website, so don’t blame me if anything’s not up-to-date:

Alabama: Anthony Madison (Steelers CB), Charlie Peprah (Packers S), Deshea Townsend (Steelers CB)
Arkansas: Brett Goode (Packers LS)
Auburn: Pat Lee (Packers CB)
Florida: Maurkice Pouncey (Steelers C)
Georgia: Hines Ward (Steelers WR), Jarius Wynn (Packers DE)
Kentucky: Tim Masthay (Packers P), Johnny Williams (Steelers LB)
LSU: Ryan Clark (Steelers FS), Matt Flynn (Packers QB), Howard Green (Packers NT), Quinn Johnson (Packers FB)
Mississippi State: Donald Lee (Packers TE)
Ole Miss: Mike Wallace (Steelers WR)
Tennessee: Chad Clifton (Packers LT), Ramon Foster (Steelers LG), Justin Vincent (Steelers RB), Scott Wells (Packers C)
