2012 Georgia State Football Recruiting: ATH Chris Jenkins Commits to Panthers

Georgia State football continues to roll on the recruiting trail and picked up another speedy athlete to bolster its roster for the 2012 recruiting cycle.  Per Chad Simmons of Scout.com, Lake Marion HS (SC) Athlete Chris Jenkins has verbally committed to head coach Bill Curry and the Panthers coaching staff.

Jenkins is 5'10, 170 multi dimensional athlete who projects at either slot wide receiver or cornerback at the next level.  He has very good speed and acceleration.  Primarily used as a dual threat QB at the high school level, Jenkins shows tremendous burst and very good downfield vision.

In 2010, Chris rushed for 1250 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.  He also passed for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air.  Jenkins also played very well in the defensive backfield breaking up six passes and totaling 23 tackles on the year.

On what position Jenkins would like to play at the college level:

It's kind of hard to say. Everyone is coming at me at different positions. I really think I will be at defensive back. I've really been working with that. Where ever they stick me at, I'm going to be ready to play.

Junior Highlights:

Georgia State was the first school to offer Jenkins who chose the Panthers over offers from Charlotte and Presbyterian.  Charles is the first commit from South Carolina in this cycle but will join three other natives in LT Ramell Davis, WR Jordan Giles, RT Grant King on the roster.  He is the 15th verbal commit of this cycle.
