2012 Georgia State Football Recruiting: ATH Charles Purnell Commits to the Panthers

Georgia State football enjoyed an off week last week to get healthy and refresh but the coaches continue to reel in some flight talent for the 2012 recruiting class.  Per Keith Niebuhr of Rivals.com, Athlete Charles Purnell of Westlake HS is the latest to join the Panther recruiting class after he gave his pledge to the coaching staff.

Purnell is a 5’9, 170lbs prospect with elite speed, as he has been clocked as fast as 4.48 in the 40 yard dash. He is begin utilized as a running back in the Lions offense but has very good hands.  Purnell is being recruited as an Athlete right now but could easily make an immediate impact on special teams and possibly as a slot wide receiver in the Panthers offense.

Charles may remind college football fans in the southeast of former Ole Miss RB Dexter McLuster because of his speed and versatility.  He chose Georgia State over offers from Kentucky and Arkansas State.

2010 Stats:
Rushing: 179 carries, 787 yards, 7 TDs
Receiving: 23 catches, 358 yards, 4 TDs

Junior Highlights:

Purnell is the 14th commit for this cycle and 10th prospect from the state of Georgia.  Georgia State is expected to sign 20-22 players next February.
