NCAA Bracketology: Georgia, Virginia Tech Among The Bubble Teams

SB Nation writer Chris Dobbertean breaks down the latest NCAA bracket projection with Georgia and a host of ACC teams still sitting squarely on the bubble.

The Bulldogs are projected as a No. 11 seed this week having missed out on adding another quality win to their resume last week when they fell to Xavier at home. There are five SEC teams in the projected field and all of them are from the SEC East. Florida earns a No. 3 seed while Kentucky checks in with a No. 5. Vanderbilt currently would earn a No. 6 seed with Tennessee rounding out the SEC portion of the field with a No. 9 slot.

Currently the ACC also has five teams in the tournament field but the situation is less than settled with with several teams all competing for one of the last few spots in the tournament. Dobbertean breaks down the ACC bubble.

Not only are Boston CollegeVirginia TechClemson, and Maryland all playing for one of the last few spots, but Florida State, a team that currently sits as an eight seed on my S-curve (I bumped them to a seven in the bracket for procedural reasons) isn't out of the woods because of a significant injury.

The Seminoles lost leading scorer Chris Singleton to a foot injury last week that is expected to keep him out of action through at least the rest of the regular season. The current ACC seeds look this way. Duke holds down one of the four No. 1 seeds with North Carolina checking in at a No. 4 seed. Dobbertean has Florida State as a No. 7 seed with both Boston College and Viriginia Tech as No. 11 seeds. Those last few spots in the ACC are very fluid and make these last couple of weeks of the regular season very important to those teams that are fighting for those last few spots in the tournament.
