The break in the ACC schedule couldn't have come at a better time for the Yellow Jackets. Tech comes into tonight's game with southern conference foe Chattanooga riding a five game losing streak. To go a step further, Georgia Tech has won three of its past twelve contests.
The Mocs come into tonight's game with a 14-13 record and are leading the Socon's North Division with a 10-5 conference mark. They have lost three straight games while the team has been recovering from a bout of the flu which resulted in a recent match-up with Western Carolina having to be rescheduled.
The Yellow Jackets come into this game looking for anything positive. That usually begins with Iman Shumpert who is averaging 17.4 points per contest for the Jackets. Glen Rice Jr. has quietly emerged as a second scorer that can be relied upon averaging a career high 13.5 points. It is beyond those two where Tech has struggled the most. Brian Oliver is out while still recovering from a thumb injury. It is on the interior that Tech needs to step up the most where Daniel Miller and Kammeon Holsey need to make an impact in each game.
One area of concern for Tech tonight will be the play of their bigs in the paint. The Mocs are 21st in the nation in rebounding averaging 39 boards per contest. Conversely Tech is ranked 137th.
Georgia Tech holds an all-time series lead of 14-2 over the Mocs. Last season Tech traveled to McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga and defeated the Mocs by a score of 95-64.
